Physiotherapy

When foot or ankle pain makes it hard to walk, work or play sport, we’ll help you understand what’s happening and build a step-by-step plan back to what matters.

Foot and Ankle Physiotherapy Brisbane

Foot and ankle problems we help with

Ankle sprains and recurring instability. If you’ve rolled your ankle or it keeps giving way, we’ll assess how it moves and what you need to get back to walking, work or sport.

Heel and arch pain. If the first few steps in the morning or a long shift on your feet are difficult, we’ll help you work out what’s aggravating it and what you can adjust.

Achilles pain. If stairs, hills or running are uncomfortable, we’ll assess what your calf and tendon can handle and build from there.

When gait analysis can help

If your symptoms show up when you run, video gait analysis can help us see how you move and decide whether a technique change is worth trying. The Running page explains what that assessment involves. Andrew Grigg has a clinical interest in gait and running analysis.

What we look at

  • [✓] How symptoms change with pace, distance or hills.
  • [✓] Whether a change in running technique is worth trialling.
  • [✓] How gait findings fit with your training history and strength assessment.

Video and clinical assessment

What happens at your first appointment

1. Hear what’s changed

We’ll ask when the symptoms started, what makes them better or worse, and what you’d like to get back to.

2. Check movement

We’ll assess how your foot and ankle move and look at tasks that matter to you, such as walking, stairs or changing direction.

3. Measure strength and balance

Where it helps, we’ll check calf strength, balance or how you load the foot and ankle.

4. Agree on a plan

We’ll explain what we found, discuss whether further assessment is needed, and agree on what you can do now.

Your plan back to walking, work or sport

We’ll review how you’re responding and adjust the plan as you go. If you’re also dealing with lower back pain, we can discuss how that affects the activities you want to get back to.

1. Make daily activity manageable

Find a starting point for walking, standing or training that fits what you can manage now.

2. Build strength and confidence

Progress exercises for the tasks you need, whether that’s standing through a shift or landing and changing direction on court.

3. Return to what matters

Build up the time, distance or intensity you need and work through any setbacks together.
