Clinic History

The clinic opened its doors at Musgrave Rd, Red Hill in 1991.

From modest beginnings, a staff of two grew into 8.  Six years on, we had outgrown our premises and moved to our current location at L’Estrange Tce, Kelvin Grove.
Today, RHP has grown to include a staff of 15 people who boast a range of skills and experience that we dared dream of all those years ago.

It was our mission to take the clinic beyond the realms of other practices, developing talented therapists who were able to practice in a stimulating, warm environment conducive to healing. Another enduring theme of our clinic has been the pursuit of excellence.

The clinic has accumulated a long list of ‘achievements’ including working with some of Australia’s top athletes and elite teams.  Amongst them we can list:

  • The Brisbane Broncos
  • The Brisbane Bullets
  • GPS Rugby Union Club
  • The Australian swim team (Olympics / World Championships / Commonwealth Games)
  • The Australian Para-Olympic swim team
  • The Hockeyroos
  • Touring golf professionals playing on USA, Japan, and Australasian tours.
  • Queensland women’s hockey
  • Australian Table Tennis team
  • Brisbane women’s hockey
  • The Queensland Conservatorium of Music
  • The Queensland Symphony Orchestra

Perhaps the biggest testament to our quality lies with the large number of health professionals (including our own profession) that have sought treatment over the years.  For our own part, we are most proud of the abilities we have developed to treat hard to fix, multiple layered, chronic injuries.

We have also achieved acclaim amongst health professionals on a national level which is indicative of the number of interstate patients that are referred or seek help.

Historically, education has played a big part in our clinic. We have a proud history of helping develop the skills of many students that have walked through our doors.  We have lectured to Japanese universities; been Clinical Educators the University of Queensland physiotherapy department; helped developed the sports medicine curriculum and deliver lectures to the podiatry school at the QUT; and convene and lecture for the National Sports physiotherapy courses.

The clinic has expanded over the last several years to include several smaller outlying clinics purposely developed for schools, gyms, musicians and the Queensland Police Force.

In 2010, we are proud to announce the arrival of another clinic, ‘RHP Corinda’ which will open its doors in its new format in February.

We have cared for over 10,000 patients, most of whom have remained very loyal to the clinic in this competitive environment.

Despite our history, we continually look to the future.  We sincerely hope you find what you are looking for at our clinic.
